The Tri-Service Families Continuous Attitude Survey (FamCAS) 2026 has been published today, providing valuable insight into the experiences of Service families and the issues that matter most to them, including housing.

This year’s results show a continued improvement in satisfaction among families living in SFA, building on the positive progress seen in recent years. Overall satisfaction has increased from 44% in 2023 to 53% in 2026, while levels of dissatisfaction have fallen over a number of key areas. Families have reported seeing the strongest improvements in maintenance and repairs, reflecting the continued work to improve the quality of homes and the support provided to Service families.

The key improvements (2025-2026) are as follows:

• Overall satisfaction with accommodation increased from 51% to 53%.
• Satisfaction with maintenance response improved from 36% to 40%.
• Dissatisfaction with maintenance response decreased from 46% in 2025 to 39%.
• Satisfaction with repair quality remained stable at 33%
• Families continue to report strong satisfaction with value for money (65%), security (64%), and accommodation that meets their needs (62%).

While these results show that families living in SFA are beginning to see and feel improvements, we recognise that there still remains more to do and are committed to improving SFA for families as set out in the Defence Housing Strategy published last year. Backed by a £9.2 billion investment, the strategy will deliver upgrades to more than 40,000 homes across the UK over the next decade, ensuring more Service families live in comfortable, modern homes.
