New light pink shades added to Defence Homes colour palette

Following feedback from Service families, we are updating our Defence Homes Colour Palette this spring to introduce five new light pink shades.

This update is part of our ongoing commitment to modernise outdated policies and give families greater freedom to make their homes feel like their own. Previously, all walls had to be returned to magnolia or white before moving out.

With the new Defence Homes Colour Palette personalisation in Defence homes is easier than ever. By choosing colours from within the new Defence Homes Colour palette range, families can leave these at move out with no requirement to revert to white.

If you are thinking about refreshing your home by painting this spring, you can start whenever you like – there is no need to ask us (DIO or Pinnacle) for permission or notify us. The new palette doesn’t specify brands or types (e.g. matt or silk), giving families as much freedom as possible to choose what suits your taste. Check out our Top Tips guide for painting the interior of your military home.

Remember, you can still paint your home colours that are outside the Defence Homes Colour Palette range without having to notify us, these will just need reverting to white before move out.

We have created some paint FAQs but families can also speak to the dedicated Housing Officer if you have any further questions.
