Earlier today, the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, announced the publication of the Defence Investment Plan (DIP).
Setting out the plan for investment, the DIP reconfirms the department’s commitment for a generational renewal of military homes across the UK. This will see nine in ten (40,000) military homes upgraded, renewed or rebuilt, backed by a record £9 billion investment over a decade.
A detailed programme for the decade of improvement is being developed including establishing a new Defence Housing Service which will put forces families first, new property standards, and accelerated delivery of new homes on surplus Defence land.
We are already making rapid improvements to drive immediate, tangible changes for Service families. Over the past year, 1,250 of the worst homes have been upgraded, and a further 2,000 are due to be improved across the UK in the next 12 months.
