As part of our commitment to modernise outdated policies and give Service families more freedoms, we are making it easier to own pets and run businesses from SFA.
We know that pets are a big part of family life and can be especially important for military families, whose partner or parent may be away for months at a time on deployment. An update to policy, effective from 9th August, means that you can now keep up to two cats and dogs, as well as a reasonable number of small animals in your home without seeking permission first. Instead, you will now just have to register your pet with Pinnacle. Safeguards will remain in place to protect the welfare of animals and permission will only be required if the number or type of pets exceeds the permissible criteria outlined.
We have also streamlined our processes for Service family members who wish to run a business from home, ensuring a standardised approach to approvals across the UK.
In the future, you will also have more freedom to make improvements, personalise and decorate your homes. More details about this policy will be shared with families in due course.
These changes are being delivered through our SFA Consumer Charter which is transforming living conditions in military homes, and follows the Strategic Defence Review commitment of more than £1.5 billion extra in funding for Armed Forces family housing.
